Belong village for older people achieves planning approval
31 May 2011
The partnership between us and the care provider Belong continues with planning approval granted for the next Belong village for older people at Loushers Lane, Warrington.
We have worked closely with Belong to successfully develop the community villages at Belong Macclesfield, Wigan, Crewe and Atherton. These villages have attracted national, and international awards and attention for their innovation in design and operation.
Belong Warrington will have six self-contained 'households' for 12 residents each and provide specialist residential, dementia and nursing care. 18 stylish one and two bedroom apartments will enable independent living for older people. There will also be a range of facilities including a bistro, hair-and-beauty salon, well-being suite and community room which will be available to both residents and the wider community.
Belong Warrington will be a place where people can feel truly at home in their own private space, with close proximity to a range of support, facilities and activities that meet the needs of a vibrant community and will be an important part of the sustainable regeneration of central Warrington.
Damian Utton, Partner here says, "The design of Belong Warrington continues the principles of creating innovative, cost-effective and non-institutional environments that meet the aims and aspirations of older people, helping them to stay healthy, active and stimulated."
Belong Operations Director, Tracy Paine commented, "We are delighted to be bringing the Belong philosophy to Warrington. One of the reasons that older people love living in Belong villages is that everything is organised around how the resident want to live. Choice and independence are at the heart of the Belong way of life. People are supported to enjoy life and take decisions just as they have always done."
