Braidwater to Develop Pozzoni Designed Hotel
13 April 2010
With planning approved Braidwater Ltd are developing a budget hotel on Upper Brook Street which is set to make a big impact to the area in different ways. Opposite the new Children's Hospital, the hotel will provide convenient, good value quality accommodation for families and visitors of children staying at the hospital, plus being well located for business and tourist use. In addition the 100 bed hotel will make a major visual impact and a significant economic contribution to the wider Oxford Road Corridor regeneration are, revitalising an existing derelict site with an exciting new building that includes onsite car parking, a rare benefit for city centre budget hotels. Hotel entrance, ground floor restaurant and reception activities will provide a lively interface with Upper Brook Street, also forming a podium over which the building cascades from six storeys at street frontage to three storeys at the rear, reflecting the varying scale of neighbouring buildings. A combination of high quality materials, colours and textures will compliment the contemporary architectural treatment of the new hospital buildings on the western side of the street and make for an attractive and dynamic visual contribution to the vista along the Upper Brook Street corridor. Tony Bennet, Consultant Architect with Pozzoni LLP, the project architects enthusiastically shared, 'the building will make a real contribution to the regeneration of the are in terms of build quality, employment generation and business activity'. The project is due on site within the next 3 months.
