British first at Curaviva Congress, Basel, Switzerland
14 February 2011
Our very own senior partner David Hughes made history when he was the first British speaker to be invited to present at the large, well respected Curaviva Congress in Basel, Switzerland on 27th/28th January this year.
Over 1250 people attended the event which is held every 2 years, hearing David speaking about ‘International Design Perspectives in Buildings for the Aged’, co-presented with Jeffrey Anderzhon from the USA. Taken from a recent tour of aged care schemes in England, United States, Australia, Japan and Korea they delivered a presentation and workshop examining how designers and care providers throughout the world are advancing design for the ageing and creating environments which enhance the sense of place, improve the quality of life and create homes for their residents.
“In the last two weeks we’ve received a lot of very good feedback to our congress” states Dr Markus Leser of Curaviva. “Your workshop has been mentioned a lot and all the feedback was very good. Thank you again for your input and I can say that our experiment with an international workshop was very successful and I am sure that we will repeat this in 2013”.
