Brookside Extracare development Ormskirk handed over
01 May 2012
Arena Housing Association has just taken possession of its new, highly anticipated purpose built £18m 111 one and two bed extra care apartment development with communal and support facilities in Ormskirk.
Brookside caters for all levels of physical ability from the fully able to the very frail and provides specialist health, care and support services for older people with dementia. It offers a home, for as long as a resident’s social care and health needs can be supported in that environment, by providing facilities which transcend disability backed up with flexible services which can be adapted to meet individual need.
Designed by Pozzoni Architects who specialise in designing for older people, along dementia principles, Brookside includes a fitness suite, beauty salon, day care centre, library/IT room, multi-purpose/cinema room, treatment rooms, music room and offices for NHS Central Lancashire.
The landscaping and gardens are also designed along dementia principles and reinforce the essential link between building and landscape and the therapeutic effects of well considered dementia design.
An open day, held on 20th April, saw a stream of potential residents viewing the scheme. For further information please visit www.brooksideliving.co.uk
