Chester care home awarded 'Pozzoni Award for Innovation'
30 July 2012
Florence Grogan House, a CLS care home near Chester, has been presented with the prestigious ‘Pozzoni Award for Innovation’ at the annual CLS Care Services Staff Awards. The residential care home was awarded the title at a celebratory event that recognises the exceptional contributions individuals, and teams, make to CLS Care Services in their day-to-day roles.
Blacon-based Florence Grogan House won the Pozzoni award for their ‘Paths to Peace’ project, which was designed to dispel the myth that classical music is exclusively ‘high brow.’ Residents worked with musicians and a research team from Coventry University to explore the links between music, reminiscence and talking about memories. Judges, including Denise Giblin, Associate here at Pozzoni LLP Chartered Architects & Designers, praised the project for being “most imaginative.”
CLS Staff Award winners were nominated from across CLS’ 26 care homes, by colleagues, residents and the wider community, and assessed by a panel of independent judges. The ceremony, held at The Mere Golf Resort & Spa in Knutsford, was attended by over 200 CLS staff and presented by Des Kelly OBE, Executive Director of the National Care Forum.
