Housing with Care apartments handed over

23 April 2012

MHA Care Group has taken possession of a new, purpose built 33 apartment housing with care scheme, to be called Fulwood Park, on Aigburth Road, Liverpool, approximately 5 miles to the south of the City Centre.

As one of the UK’s leading charitable providers of care and accommodation services for older people MHA operates across the UK, providing care homes, housing and support services to more than 12,000 older people in care homes, housing schemes and community projects. Fulwood Park provides much needed accommodation for older people in the area.

Designed by Pozzoni Architects, who specialise in designing for older people, the apartments will provide a ‘home for life’ for those who live there. Community facilities include a foyer area, lounge, coffee shop and hair and beauty salon.

Externally, sunny garden areas with walking paths, planting beds and a gazebo are provided, and car parking is conveniently close to the entrance.

The design of the scheme welcomes residents with a non-institutional feel and allows people to continue with their daily lives and activities. Residents are able to relate to the size, scale and ambience of the spaces created in a safe and enabling environment, together with the ethos of care that MHA provide which enhances the quality of life for residents. Fulwood Park offers residents the opportunity to join a friendly community, with all the freedom and dignity of their own front door.

On the site of a former car showroom, the external design relates to neighbouring ‘Arts and Crafts’ style private houses and improves the existing streetscape on one of the main routes into Liverpool. The first residents are due to move to their new homes during April 2012.
