New Godalming Leisure Centre plans approved
12 September 2011
Waverley Borough Councils planning committee have approved the plans for the building of the new Godalming Leisure Centre. The application will now be referred to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government for final determination.
The new centre is the conclusion of a £11.25 million project from Waverley to upgrade its leisure centres. The approval of this planning permission means the new centre will be built on the redundant grass tennis courts situated in front of the current 1970’s centre, which will then be demolished.
Work began on site in May and is expected to be completed in Autumn 2012. It will contain a 25 metre six lane swimming pool plus separate learner pool, a 60 station fitness suite, multi purpose dance studio and a cafe and viewing area.
ISG have been appointed to deliver the £6 million facility which has been designed by our Manchester office. Energy efficiency measures have been incorporated into the design and include renewable options for heating both the building and the pool water.
