Pozzoni's 'Personal Architecture' at the Care Show, Birmingham

26 October 2009

Pozzoni will be exhibiting at the national Care Show in Birmingham on 3 and 4 November 2009. The practice will be showcasing its recent project work in the care sector on stand G20.

The Pozzoni care team has developed an expertise in design for older people over the past five years, particularly focussing on design for the care of people with dementia. The practice has delivered projects including CLS Care Services' Belong homes in Macclesfield and Wigan and Millhouse in Nantwich for Wulvern Housing.

The practice has also recently succeeded in gaining planning permission for a sustainable dementia care facility in Surrey. Huntington House, a nursing home in Hindhead has been granted planning consent to develop a new dementia care facility. The design also includes a sedum roof, natural cross ventilation and timber cladding amongst other carefully selected materials from sustainable sources.

The practice's ethos of ‘personal architecture' has helped Pozzoni to build its reputation as a leading practice for this specialised market. This has been achieved by working to understand the environment from the customer's perspective and by relating the design to how people will use and relate to their surroundings.

Speaking about the practice's attendance at the event, partner Damian Utton said: "Pozzoni is a leading national practice in designing and delivering care homes. We're really looking forward to talking to visitors about our approach to understanding the needs of this market and how detailed design can help to make a difference to the people living and using a care home environment - be it residents, family or the local community."
