Portugal proves no holiday for Pozzoni IT Director in latest World Mountain Bike Orienteering Championships
23 July 2010
Pozzoni IT Director Mark Stodgell has just returned from Montalegre, Northern Portugal having represented Great Britain at the World Mountain Bike Orienteering Championships where 24 counties were competing.
The sprint event in the picturesque medieval town of Chaves was fast and furious racing taking in castles, narrow streets and even flights of steps. Mark unfortunately made a small mistake towards the end, losing him time and places but he was satisfied with 47th position.
A series of punctures cost him a good placing in the middle race and the vicious climbs and simple navigation favoured the stronger riders in the long race, but Mark finally rode the high pressure first leg for the Great Britain relay team who were eventually placed 13th.
Using a helmet camera Mark filmed and edited his races, which has already gained over 1700 viewings on YouTube, gaining good publicity for his sponsors and the sport in general
He also wore this camera at a recent Pozzoni corporate entertainment event at Llandegla where he filmed guests tacking the tough ‘black’ route.
The Northern Italian town on Padova is next up for Mark this year in mid September in the last rounds of the 2010 World Cup. Better luck with the punctures!
