Pozzoni Green Day credentials put to the test
14 July 2010
With prizes and professional reputations at stake, the Pozzoni team was challenged to get to work with the lowest carbon footprint!
The challenge was taken up with enthusiasm, innovation and a sense of fun! Some people ran to work, others cycled, there were car sharing arrangements, detailed public transport strategies, and some people even walked!
At the lunchtime presentation, the winners were rewarded with chocolate and more importantly bragging rights. Vanessa Wall, our Environmental Manager shared a presentation, prepared by Sam Fishwick, our work experience student from Altrincham Grammar School, which delivered some surprising and interesting data.
Sam used an online converter to compare how the calories burn't in Damian Utton's run to work translated into fuel and energy, with 440 calories being the equivalent of 0.011 gallons of fuel, meaning that a Toyota Prius would travel around 0.66 miles and a Lamborghini only 0.1 miles, or just off the drive!
It was an enjoyable day with a serious message, and another example of our practical commitment to sustainable and environmentally responsible practice.
