Stonehenge Statue visits Pozzoni Award Winning Hotel
15 July 2010
A 20 foot high, six tonne steel statue named “The Ancestor” has appeared outside our award winning Pozzoni designed Holiday Inn at Solstice Park, near Stonehenge, Wiltshire.
Designed and built by local metal work artists, Andy and Michelle Rawlings, the Ancestor was transported to Stonehenge to provide a focal point for the summer solstice celebrations, before being located to his present home close to the Holiday Inn.
The ancient looking man, which rises higher than a double - decker bus, captures the very moment the sun comes up and he’s dropped to his knees in thanks and praise.
This ancient “Angel of the South”, created and designed “by eye” provides an interesting contrast to the futuristic Holiday Inn Hotel, designed by Pozzoni using the very latest technology and techniques.
The past and the future coming together, providing present visitors with a visual feast!
