Architecture as a career? Informing the next generation
11 May 2011
This week saw partner Stewart Grant and project architect Robert Tanti speak at Altrincham Grammar School for boys about a career in architecture and what it entails, giving an insight into the profession for the students as they begin to decide on possible career paths.
Subjects covered included a look at architectural examples, the processes involved in architecture, a truth or myth session (will I be rich? being very popular!), a run through the skills and qualifications required to become an architect , and the career opportunities a qualification in architecture can lead to.
This was followed up with a look at the different ways architects communicate with their differing audiences (public, contactors, technicians etc) and finished with a Visualisation showreel highlighting the way 3D moving images help communicate ideas and projects.
This is the second time we have been asked to talk to the students about a career in architecture and the school have stated that they would like us to go back next year.
