Cabot Park & Trafford Interchange

Major master planning schemes for two national and regional strategic sites:

Cabot Park at Avonmouth, Bristol on the Severn Estuary is an area of some 180 hectares of former heavy industrial sites and docklands. The problems addressed at master planning stage include areas of severe industrial contamination and significant difficulties with hydrology. The park has been planned as a full inter model rail freight and distribitution village. Construction of significant sections of infrastructure and new build projects are already complete.

Trafford Interchange at Carrington, Manchester is a site of 336 hectares comprising extensive brownfield lands and a sector of greenfield. The master plan has successfully integrated the environmental constraints of the site with the economic and social needs of neighbouring areas and the North West region as a whole. The plan envisages a rail served distribution and manufacturing park with high levels of employment generation, attracting regional, national and multi-national inward investment. The total floor space created will be in the region of 420,000 sq.m.

The practice skills in master planning have also been recognised with a recent commission to master plan a nationally strategic site of over 100 hectares in the Republic of Ireland, and we are discussing potential commissions in a number of new European member states in Eastern Europe.
