Ravenhead Retail Park, St Helens

Greenbank Partnerships wanted to regenerate a 35 acre brownfield site in the heart of St Helens to provide a new high quality retail development that raised the bar in terms of design and quality.

 

We were absolutely clear that the design should steer away from a standard retail terrace in order to give some character and individuality to the development. Our recommendation was to achieve this through a public realm design which had a pedestrian axis or spine through the site with a central plaza and clock tower feature at its pivotal point. This makes orientation easy within the park.

 

We also shared our client’s enthusiasm for hard and soft landscaping with a consistent palette of quality materials and finishes. Breaking away from standard convention in the construction of retail parks, we consulted closely with the client and other advisors before jointly recommending a traditional
procurement route.

 

This retail park is among the top 10 largest retail parks in the UK. It continues to attract further investment and phased construction.This is a particularly large and intricate on-going project which continues to be delivered on brief, on budget and on time. Laterly the park has been bought by Hammersons and Pozzoni continue to act as architects for the delivery of the balance of the scheme.
