SAP Calculations & Energy Performance Certificates

The Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) predicts the energy efficiency of a house, as designed, as well as the running costs associated with its energy use. As such SAP provides a useful design tool for establishing the optimum energy strategy for a new build dwelling; be it to determine the best orientation, the window area, the wall/ floor construction or the size of PV array. Such tools are increasingly useful when designing to higher levels of the Code for Sustainable Homes to provide confidence that a standard can be achieved.

 

Part L 2010 requires Design Stage SAP calculations to be signed off by the Building Control Officer before work starts on site placing greater emphasis on the need to resolve the energy strategy early.

 

Pozzoni is accredited by the National Home Energy Rating Scheme (NHER) to calculate SAP ratings, undertake Part L compliance tests, produce Predicted Energy Assessments and Energy Performance Certificates for new build housing.

 

With this qualification, we can also assess homes undergoing major refurbishment, extensions or other new building work that requires Building Control Approval.
